GOD SPEAKS

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son. HEBREWS 1:1–2 From the beginning, God has communicated with humanity in the ways we could understand Him. He taught Adam and Eve as He walked with them in the cool of the day. He addressed Moses through the burning bush and Joseph through dreams. Elijah heard His whisper, while it took a large fish to get through to Jonah. In these last days, we’ve seen how God communicates through Jesus, who used daily life circumstances to teach important lessons. And now, His Holy Spirit indwells us to lead us to all truth (John 16:13). But why does the Lord use so many methods? Could it be that the God who knit us together in our mothers’ wombs understands the best way to  communicate with us? Of course! That’s why you need never be afraid of missing God’s will if you’re in an intimate relationship with Him. The One who created you can overcome any inability you have to hear Him. You can trust the Father to speak and even to move heaven and earth to show you His will. So be listening. Problem arises when the word they

heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. (Heb 4:2) God who created you can overcome any inability. What He will not accept is your refusal to listen. This means that you must receive whatever the Lord tells you by faith. Today’s verse from Hebrews refers to the Israelites’ unbelief as they stood on the border of the Promised Land (Numbers 13–14). Even though God had miraculously delivered them from Egyptian bondage and sustained them in their travels, they did not believe that He’d give them their own land because of the enemies they saw there. In other words, how they saw their

obstacles was greater than how they viewed God. But understand, whenever the Lord makes you a promise, the only way to take hold of it is by faith. You will have to trust that God is in control regardless of how big the challenges appear. So don’t refuse Him. Instead, unite His promise with faith and believe that He is able to accomplish all He reveals to you. Trust God in Christ. Amen.
