Growing in Grace
The exhortation to grow in Grace is a consistent theme in the New Testament. A life of faith is not passive; it requires a firm decision of the will and perseverance to believe God and His finished work. All are revealed to those who seek His Word and making them the standard of truth.
Then the desire is developed through His Grace and apply His ways in one's everyday life. We are urged to "continue to work oout your salvation with fear and trembling [a spirit of humility], for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose." (Phil 2:12-13).
Notice that it doesn't say "work for your salvation." It says "work out your salvation." it is clear God is the one who is initiating His work. Our role is to work out with all our strength what God is working in. We are His workmanship and we receive sanctification (cleansing) daily for the glorious day of the Lord.
The way of Christ is already given to us, "faith that was once delivered to us" and is written in our heart. His Grace is enough.
Ultimate as it is, all we have to do is accept it. Decide and examine yourselves today. It is only by Grace you're saved not of yourself; it is a gift of God. Search the Scriptures. Amen.
