God created everything in six days, "And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done." (Gen 2:2).
How does this rest apply to us today? The Bible tells us about the spiritual meaning of the pattern, "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." (Heb 4:9-10).
God wants us to grasp by faith the fact that Jesus Christ has done it all, and there is nothing for us to perform in order to be acceptable to God. In other words, God has done the work; now you rest!
Realize that "resting" is not the same as being inactive. I can't think of anyone more active than the Lord Jesus Christ, but He was always at rest. At rest in our hearts, we are strongly urged in the Word of God to go forward aggressively and lay hold of all that God has prepared for us. We are called to grow in Grace!
